About
Radio Amateur Association of Greece (RAAG)
Radio Amateur Association of Greece (RAAG) is a non-commercial, non-governmental association of radio amateurs. It was founded in 1958 and has been a member of the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) since 1959.
RAAG has more than 2000 members and is Greece’s internationally recognised National Society for all radio amateurs. Its scope is to promote radio communications and experimentation and to assist the public in emergency cases.
It runs the only official QSL Bureau for incoming and outgoing QSL cards for Greece (including Crete and Dodecanese islands and Mt. Athos), publishes a bi-monthly amateur radio e-magazine called SV NEA and has an extended network with analogue voice (FM) as well as digital voice (DV) repeaters and packet radio digital repeaters (APRS). It runs well, with HF and Satellite gateways able to provide communications in the event of disasters and other emergencies. RAAG offers its members free civil liability insurance for their antennas.
In 1980, RAAG founded its Amateur Radio Emergency Groups, which consist of trained amateur radio operator volunteers organised to assist in public service and emergency communications.
RAAG offers preparatory lessons for the state exams for the amateur radio license and provides handbooks containing the examination material.
The Club premises are in Peristeri, Athens, near the metro station Agios Antonios. Working hours on Wednesdays 17:30 – 20:30 hrs.
