ABOUT ME

Hello and welcome to my QRZ page.

My name is Jean-Maurice, callsign F4IOW, and I am based in Colmar, Alsace, France, locator JN38QB.

I have always been interested in radio, technology, computers and
communications. Amateur radio allows me to combine all these passions
while meeting operators from all over the world.

MY PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

I work as an HSE Project Manager and Industrial Safety Coordinator.

My professional activity involves major industrial projects in France
and Switzerland, with a focus on workplace safety, risk prevention,
coordination and project management.

My work has taught me the importance of discipline, preparation,
teamwork and clear communication — values that are also very important
in amateur radio.

MY RADIO STATION

My main transceiver is an Icom IC-7300.

I mainly operate digital modes such as:

• FT8
• FT4
• JS8Call
• DMR
• D-STAR

I also enjoy experimenting with VHF, UHF, SDR, satellite reception and portable radio.

My station is connected to a Linux-based self-hosted system that
manages my logbook, statistics, maps, propagation information and
station monitoring.

MY INTERESTS

Outside amateur radio, I enjoy:

• Linux and computer systems
• Networking and self-hosted servers
• Travel and discovering other cultures
• Industrial technology
• Motorcycles
• Building and improving my F4IOW radio project

I have travelled to many countries, and amateur radio gives me another way to continue exploring the world.

MY OPERATING PHILOSOPHY

For me, amateur radio is not only about collecting contacts.

It is about learning, experimenting, sharing knowledge and creating
friendships between people from different countries and cultures.

Every QSO is part of a much bigger adventure.
